OpenVPN drops connection at high load : VPN

My VPN Client (Asus RT-AC66U running Asus Merlin WRT) won't connect to my Netgear R8000 X6 VPN-server (OpenVPN). Maybe somebody in this community can guide me in the right direction. The other way around ( clients on VPN-client ) I do get values as expected.
